Two Layers, One Image

Brand Identity

︎Ambiguous images carry the power to shift meanings—what you see depends on how you look. Much like political propaganda, where underlying messages weave beneath the surface, these visuals encapsulate multiple layers of information within a single frame.

︎By creating images that transform when flipped upside down, I explore the intersection of two distinct narratives within one picture. The juxtaposition of the “Core Socialist Values” against depictions of political refugees and persecuted individuals challenges the polished facade of Chinese society. This contrast reveals a more intricate, unsettling reality—one that disrupts the illusion of harmony and invites deeper reflection.

Turn the image upside down, and you’ll see an entirely different picture.
